About the Core

The Mouse Experimentation Core was established through a grant for the Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence from the National Institutes of Health in support of the animal research projects of the investigators of the Center for Colon Cancer Research.  Over the years, we have expanded our services to meet the demands of investigators at the University of South Carolina and beyond.

Overall Objectives

Our goal is to provide animal research support to the investigators of the Center for Colon Cancer Research, the University of South Carolina, and investigators and entities outside of USC.  We operate on the concept of a "lab away from lab" where investigators from across the USC campus and beyond, can conduct all aspects of animal experiments, from breeding mouse colonies to performing animal experiments, collecting tissue specimens, and analying data from mouse experiments in a centralized location within the Animal Resource Facility.  We operate on the principle that we are the investigators' partners in the successful execution of animal experiments, and build on years of experience and on our network of collaborators across the USC campus to facilitate the execution of animal experiments and the acquisition of quality data critical to investigators' projects, publications, and grant applications.
